Project Description

Trauma surgery / orthopaedics

Trauma surgery / orthopaedics are medical disciplines that both deal with diseases and functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Trauma surgery addresses changes caused by injuries, while orthopedics deals with chronic changes or those caused by wear and tear. As has long been the case in Anglo-American countries, these two disciplines are merging into one specialty in German-speaking regions as well. This is reflected in the new training regulations for trauma surgeons and orthopedic surgeons who operate. At the end of such training, the title will be "Specialist in Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery" in the future.

Diseases of the shoulder, the knee joint, and the tarsal joint.
Disorders in these complex swellings on the cartilage of the joint surfaces are addressed. With arthroscopy, we have an established surgical method at our disposal that allows us to repair damage in a minimally invasive manner. The duration of the surgery ranges between 30 and 60 minutes. Typically, the procedure is performed under general anesthesia. The total stay on the day of the operation is about 2-3 hours. A large number of arthroscopies are performed at our facility.
